Nine items and four dropdowns become five items and one button
A family in the first hours after a death is not browsing a menu. They need one of three things: to arrange, to see who is in care, or the phone number. The new menu is built around that.

The indented items are section bars on the page itself, not dropdowns. There are no dropdowns anywhere on the new site.
Why it changed
The current menu lists Our Services twice, under The Burstow Experience and again under Arranging a Funeral, and it puts the Philosophy beside the Facilities as if they were the same kind of thing. Tribute Centre and Currently In Our Care sit at the far end of the row, even though Currently in Our Care is the most visited page on the whole site, with 83,050 clicks from Google in three months.
The new menu names the job in one word. Experience, for who Burstows are. Arrange, for a family who needs to act. Preplanning, for one who wants to think ahead. Contact. And Currently in Our Care as a button that stands apart, because that is what most visitors came for. The phone number and the webstream link sit above the menu on every page, at every screen size.
What left the menu did not leave the site. News, Support and Resources, the Puzzle Book, Employment, Gifting Back, the four homes and the Funeral Pricing Information all live in the footer of every page, and each keeps its own address for search.
Section bars instead of dropdowns
Three pages gather what used to be spread across many. Each carries a bar under its banner that stays in view as the reader scrolls, so the page is long but never lost.

On a phone
Most visitors arrive on a phone. The new site opens the same five items and the Currently in Our Care button from one menu button, with the phone number as the last item so it is always one tap away.
The eighteen addresses that moved
Every one of these old addresses still works. A visitor, or Google, following one lands on the matching section of the new page. The other 72 addresses are unchanged.
